The Standards Behind Our Syllabus

Poor handling, rushed techniques, or a lack of understanding can lead to stress, injury, or long-term behavioural fallout for cats. We recognize that cat grooming carries real, heavy responsibility, and these outcomes are often invisible until damage has already been done.

At Neko Neko Academy, our philosophy is built on balance. We believe that good grooming sits at the intersection of cat wellbeing, handler safety, and professional skill. Caring for cats means working with respect, sensitivity, and awareness, while also having the structure, technique, and judgment to make responsible decisions in real situations.

Our professional cat grooming courses exist to raise the baseline of how grooming is taught and practised, with the cat’s welfare as the non-negotiable priority.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior grooming or animal experience to start?

No prior grooming experience is required for our foundational courses. We teach from the basics, including safe handling, understanding feline behaviour, and core grooming techniques. What matters more than experience is willingness to learn, practise, and work thoughtfully with cats.

Are these courses suitable if I want to groom cats professionally?

Yes. These courses are designed for individuals who want to pursue cat grooming as a profession, whether in established salons, as independent groomers, or as part of a cat-only practice. The focus is on building real skills, sound judgement, and professional standards.

Will I be able to work with Neko Neko after completing the course?

Students who demonstrate exceptionally strong skills, professionalism, and alignment with our standards may be considered for placement positions in our salons directly after course completion, subject to position vacancy and aptitude assessments.

Are these courses certification-based?

Some courses support preparation for professional certification, while others focus on skill development and practical readiness. Certification Preparation Courses are offered only when official exam dates are announced by relevant bodies.

Will I get hands-on practice with real cats?

Yes. Hands-on learning is a core part of our training. All practical sessions are supervised closely, and techniques are taught progressively, with feline comfort and safety as the priority.

Is this course suitable if I eventually want to open my own salon?

These courses provide the technical skills, ethical standards, and decision-making foundations needed for professional grooming. Running a salon also involves business, licensing, and operational considerations, which are outside the scope of grooming training but can be built upon separately.
